Why I built IsoMount Tech Collective
Africa has no shortage of capable developers. What many of them lack is visibility. A strong engineer with no network can build great things and still never be found by the companies that need them.
The problem I kept noticing
Resumes tell hiring managers very little. Mentorship is hard to reach without connections. Opportunities are scattered across group chats and social feeds. I saw talented people around me struggling with exactly this.
The idea
In April 2025 I founded IsoMount Tech Collective. The platform gives every developer a verified profile synced with GitHub, a space to showcase real projects with live links and stacks, and a one-click A4 CV. Around that sit an opportunity board, structured mentorship and an events and hackathons hub.
The business model
Developers use IsoMount for free. Hiring companies and recruiters fund it, because they get access to a curated pool of African tech talent. Aligning incentives this way keeps the platform honest and sustainable.
What building it taught me
Technology was the easier half. The harder half was deciding what to build, what to leave out and who it was really for. Every feature had to answer one question: does it make a developer easier to find and trust?
